Bedford celebrates the King's Coronation


Coronation Crafts:

All libraries in Bedford Borough will be running royal craft making events on the following days:

  • Bedford Central Library: 6-7 May.
  • Kempston, Putnoe, Bromham and Wootton: 6 May.

All libraries will also have crafts during the week, 2-5 May during staffed hours.

King's Coronation Trail:

Saturday 6 May.

Twelve crowns have been hidden in various locations around Bedford town centre, and we are inviting children and their families to explore the town while following the map to find the crowns. Download the Coronation trail (bedford.gov.uk (PDF) or collect one from Bedford Central Library.

Love Bedford's Coronation Celebration:

Saturday 6 May, 10am–3.30pm.

The Love Bedford Team welcomes visitors to Harpur Square to celebrate King Charles III's Coronation. It will be a lovely family-friendly day to make memories and have some fun!.

This includes:

  • Saturday craft market
  • balloon modelling
  • face painting
  • free rides for children on the Tea Cups mini fairground ride with bubble     machine 
  • live performances

The Mill, Bromham:

11am – 3pm, Saturday 6 May.

Watch the King's Coronation live on the big screen, followed by Paddington the film.

Elstow Playing Field Association Family Picnic:

Sunday 7 May, 12-4pm.

Celebrate with the village picnic and enjoy face painting, stalls, music and prizes for the best homemade crown competition.

Wilstead Jubilee Centre and Playing Fields:

Monday 8 May, 12-4pm.

Bring your ownpicnics, blankets and chairs and enjoy the space on the field. Activities forall ages including music, bouncy castle, food and drink.
